Come along Friday May 10th to The Evelyn to immerse yourself in the music of Vanessa Estrada. Along with her 5 piece band, she will be performing and releasing her latest single, "En el río," a soulful ode to the transformative power of water.
Vanessa is a multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter who writes heartfelt songs inspired by the kaleidoscope of musical influences that she grew up with in Chile, her place of birth. Influences such as Andean music, rock, cumbia and reggae come together to support and amplify Vanessa’s poetic lyrics and powerful singing voice.
Headlining the night will be Jarabi who will heat up the dancefloor with their take on Guinean fusion. Founded by Guinean master musician Mohamed Camara, the ensemble features Mohamed's distinctly rich vocals, intricate melodies on the kora, guitar and balafon, upbeat drums, bass and percussion and dynamic dance.
Keeping the vibe going between and after the live music sets will be local DJ collective ISUTAKI, a collective of music lovers committed to promoting South American and other mestizo beats on the dancefloors of Naarm.
