Kitsch Kitchen 'Fractures' EP Launch
Melbourne/Naarm producer, Kitsch Kitchen brings his new EP Fractures to the Evelyn Hotel with local favourites MOZË and Zoe Fox. An evocative new EP, Fractures, seamlessly blends lush synth layers, broken beat rhythms, soaring saxophone and delicate piano, evoking artists such as Shabaka and Chaos In The CBD.
Recorded and produced in bedrooms, living rooms and studios across Melbourne and London, Fractures builds on the immersive soundscapes of previous releases and sees the producer embracing a rich palette of genres.
“Fractures is about carving out time to create despite being fractured by space, distance or time. Much of this EP was put together in varying rooms and spaces across Melbourne and London. Sessions were cut up (or fractured) and assembled in the times available to sit and create around a fractured and busy life. It’s about prioritising a sense of stillness and creativity in the chaos.”
A seasoned drummer and touring artist (Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird), Reid has channeled years of musical experience into this deeply personal project. From the atmospheric piano performances of Zoltan Fecso (Fractures) and Peter Corrigan (Tessellate) to Oliver Whitehead’s powerful and emotive saxophone that adorns the majority of the EP, and Michael Belsars’ mixing prowess, Fractures feels alive with collaboration and creative energy.
This latest release follows 2022’s Technicolour EP, which was dubbed 2RRR’s album of the week and was championed by RRR, PBSfm, Radio Adelaide, 2SERfm, and RTRfm. Live performances at Gaytimes and Midsumma festivals have further cemented Kitsch Kitchen’s reputation as an emerging captivating force in the Australian music scene.
